Wingtips
I should've guessed at your change of heart But there's one born every minute Plus to minus, my jump start Blood is thick, don't try to thin it Feathered my nest just a little too soon And you gave me the fingerslip All I could see were two outta three And I let you slip through my wingtips
I used to curse the darkness Now I light a candle Try my hand at a little panhandle I'm out on a limb, it's too easy to fall I don't know what I want and I want it all Thanks to that bandit with the runaway hands And the love line like industrial jazz
It takes more than a clip of the wingtips to keep the lonesome sparrow at home More than a clip of the wingtips to nip the wanderlust The desire to roam
Who would've guessed at your change of heart There's one born every minute Plus to minus, my jump start Blood is thick, why try to thin it Sweet surprise, a little knock on my door We embrace and the feathers fly Goodnight till tomorrow, and the day after that And on into the sweet by and by
It takes more than a clip of the wingtips to keep the lonesome sparrow at home More than a clip of the wingtips to nip the wanderlust The desire to roam

Through the Window
Cottonwood is drifting like snow I want to leave and I hate to go, oh no Looks like I fell through the window again
I thought I had it made Just another masquerade like before Looks like I fell through the window again
All our talk of dreams and I believed it like the gospel Dreams are for the children and the blessed Seems that the caress anticipated can turn hostile Just a moment's thought, and you're gone just like the rest
Standing tall to reach for a star Lost my center, went too far, look out below Oh, I fell through the window again
[INST.VERSE]
Isn't this a view for two, well maybe, yes maybe Once upon a time for you and me Staring at the empty chair beside me, beside me And I know that there's no one to blame but me
Au revoir, my poison child Better stay away for awhile, while I mend Until I fall through the window again

Leaves
Where are you rising, I have no idea I hope the sun's shining for you Take a soft moment and think of me here 'Cause I promise I'm thinking of you
How you run through my thoughts like the leaves down the river How the flame in my heart burns high while I shiver And the tears that we share fall as sweet as spring rain Oh to hold you and love you again
Where are you walking, I have no idea I hope your road's steady and smooth Same old routine as I pass the time here And I wish I were walking with you
How I tremble with fear at my journey alone Will I ever surmise what I need to be home But the beauty I feel for you eases the pain And I can't wait to see you again
Where are you sleeping, I have no idea Whether five-star or under the moon I'll be your sunset, sweet dreams to you, dear 'Cause you know I'll be dreaming of you
How you course through my veins like a mellow fine wine With a passion to match all the fire that is mine Play the chords of my history, love's longing refrain Oh, when will I see you again

Tomorrow the Glimmer and Flame
You with your sense of humor and your sense of right and wrong Your friends all glad they call you friend It's so easy, you feel so strong Remember that when your enemies howl and they force you to take all the blame Today the darkness, just for now Tomorrow the glimmer and flame
Sometimes you'll coast in laughing sport Cross the ocean to foreign lands Your every move, a diamond forms Every play is a winning hand Remember that when fate's unfair and your pride is all turned to shame Today the darkness, don't despair Tomorrow the glimmer and flame
Women, women, and then you'll meet one who'll rebuild you without making changes Long after parting, she shares your soul She defies all that time rearranges Remember that when your heart vows 'never' and you're sure it was all just a game Today the darkness, seems like forever Tomorrow the glimmer and flame
Your spirit ties with earth and sky for all the love you've shared for sacrifices great and small for feelings that you spared Remember that when you spin and fall from the bullet that bears your name Today the darkness, final call Tomorrow the glimmer and flame
There's a light in the distance to see you through when you're left alone broken and lame Today the darkness, red roses for you Tomorrow the glimmer and flame

Wandering Ivy
Wandering Ivy, forest green Through the hazel crystalline Sister Catherine Mother's pride shine in her eyes Keep the notebook by your bed Count the verses in your head Sing the song on which your heart's desire relies
Turn a phrase, and strum out a tune As your lifeblood flows into modern rune All the pictures painted of you never capture your smile
Vine that winds a serenade Running closer to the blade Glad surprise to find they love you You don't know your own power Falling prey to men of greed who take the knife and draw a bead Seize the opportunity Cut the gift from the flower
What's that game they're playing with you If it becomes too much, can you see it through What on earth convinced you that you have to go it alone
Wandering Ivy, evergreen Scattered blossoms, tears unseen Fallen leaves that fade to yellow Return to the soil
Wandering Ivy, come again Wandering Ivy, come again

Tulips in the Stones
You smooth the pavement ahead for me You clear the fog so that I can see and all I see is beautiful and all I see is everything you are to me You're answers to my prayers, you're the air I breathe You make me laugh and if you can't, you hold me while I grieve Your heart and soul are beautiful and all I see is everything you are to me
I dreamed we were in London and we put our hands to a house condemned by Thursday week the hovel was a home You planted tulips in the stones and all the locals called you daft You simply turned and caught my eye and smiled and how those tulips thrived as far as our eye could see and all I see is everything you are to me
I'll catch the furrow in your brow and smooth it out as best as I know how I love you with a peaceful urgency and all I see is everything you are to me All I give I give to us The London fog is silver dust and Celtic silver shines on our finger and all I see is everything you are to me
And thanks to you I'll always see tulips in the stones And how those tulips thrive
